Back IS Close

Back IS Close replaces the "Back" button with a "Close" button when the "Back" button is disabled because there is no page to go "back" to. That Close Button will close the tab or browser, as appropriate.Back IS Close is the perfect complement to tabbed browsing: it closes the many tabs tabbed browsing opens. Back IS Close works most effectively when you map a mouse button (I use the right mouse button) to send "Alt-Left Arrow". Then one mouse button will either take you back to the previous page, or close the tab if no previous page exists, making for quick, convenient browsing. There's a tiny "Easter Egg" in Back IS Close, which allows you to get to its preferences dialog more easily than going through Tools|Extensions. See if you can find it.For those who previously used the alternate version 1.0, you should use the standard version 1.3.1See the full documentation, including the privacy notification, at author's homepage: http://www.diffenbach.org/back-is-close.htmlIf you have questions or issues, please read the author's homepage for the extension. IF YOU FIND A BUG, please email me, as I don't regularly read the comments here; emailing gets a faster response, and I can work with you directly to debug any errors. Email me at back-is-close AT diffenbach.orgIf you want to discuss the Back IS Close extension, do that in the Mozilla extension forum, in this thread:http://forums.mozillazine.org/viewtopic.php?p=1982963Users of the IETab extension should see this documentation page: http://diffenbach.org/back-is-close/back.is.close.ietab.html

Supported Firefox versions: Firefox 1.0 - 2.0.0.* ALL

Notes / Comments: Why Back IS Close doesn't use the theme's stop icon or close icon: the stop icon means stop, not close, so it would be confusing. The close icon doesn't come in a large icon and small icon size, so it wouldn't look right for users who don't set "use small icons" on their toolbars.---Because of the way Firefox is designed, Back IS Close can't trap the special keyboard/mouse Back key. If you have an IntelliMouse or similar, configure it to send Alt-Left Arrow rather than Back to make Back IS Close work with the mouse.
