Cert Viewer Plus
Adds two options to the certificate viewer in Firefox or Thunderbird: an X.509 certificate can either be displayed in PEM format (Base64/RFC 1421, opens in a new window) or saved to a file (in PEM or DER format - and PKCS#7 provided that the respective patch has been applied - cf. https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=315871).Additionally, the Tools menu is extended by an entry for direct access to the certificate manager (including a keyboard shortcut). As of release 1.0, the XPI file of this extension is signed. Its signature will successfully verify under Firefox or Thunderbird if the "Builtin Roots Module" is available in its standard configuration. If you get an error like "could not install the file ... because: Signing could not be verified", it's either due to the fact that somebody tampered with the file (let me know where exactly you got it from, in this case) - or that you tweaked the trust settings of the built-in certification authorities. In the latter case, I assume that you're also savvy enough to figure out what trust anchor needs to be re-enabled in order to make the verification succeed again... (or how to rip the signature out of the file, otherwise) ;-)
Supported
versions: Firefox 1.5.0.4 - 3.0a1 ALL Thunderbird 1.5.0.5 - 3.0a1 ALL
Notes / Comments: If you find this extension useful, you might want to vote for Bug 315871 (https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/votes.cgi?action=show_user&bug_id=315871#vote_315871), which will hopefully help getting the features of Cert Viewer Plus into the standard Mozilla versions. To reach me by mail, use the address mozcvp velox ch (insert an at sign before and a dot after "velox" - sorry for the obfuscation).
