Send Page By Email

This firefox extension, as its name says, is initially designed to support "send page by email" function, a missing yet important element of firefox compared to its counterpart Internet Explorer. With this extension, you can send the webpage you are currently browsing directly by email to anyone you want. You can backup your interested webpages in your own emailbox for further reference. Moreover, you can send any selected text on the webpage and even your own words by email. You can also send attachments with an email. From this point of view, this extension is an embedded email sending interface for firefox.SEE Previews for more details. This extension makes use of an external email application called sendEmail (thanks the authors of this program). You can download the program for free from the following website: http://caspian.dotconf.net/menu/Software/SendEmail/Currently the extension is only available under Windows. The linux version will be available soon. Your comments and suggestions are highly appreciated.Due to the requests of some of the users, I provide a detailed explaination of how to configure this extension to make it work: ***Configuration Instructions***:SEE "Previews" for an example of configuration.1. Install this extension by clicking "install now".2. Download sendEmail.exe program from http://caspian.dotconf.net/menu/Software/SendEmail/, unzip and put it to anyplace you like on your computer (D: for example). 3. You need to have an email account, namely your email address as a sender (YourUserName@inMail24.com, for example).4. You need to configure the SMTP Server in order to send emails. Normally, the information of SMTP Server is provided by your Email Account Provider. For example, if you subscribe your Internet service at home from an Internet Service Provider (ISP), they will provide you an email account and the POP/SMTP server information as well (you can contact them for the SMTP service information). An alternative option is to use the SMTP server provided by 3rd parties. For example, YAHOO provides a charged service for POP/SMTP access. You will find the SMTP server for Yahoo is "smtp.mail.yahoo.com" at the following link: http://help.yahoo.com/help/us/mail/pop/pop-28.htmlIf you don't want to pay, www.inMail24.com provides FREE smtp service. Just sign up at their website and put "smtp.inMail24.com" as the smtp server as shown in the previews. Gmail also provide secured SMTP service. However, GMail SMTP requires SSL which are *NOT* supported by sendEmail.exe. Therefore, you can not use Gmail smtp server with this extension. 6. Port: 25. "25" is the default port number for SMTP service. 7. User Name and Password. Most smtp service requires authentication. Normally, the user name is the first part of your email address (the part before @). The password is the same as the password of your email account.

Supported Firefox versions: Firefox 1.5 - 3.0 Windows

Notes / Comments: 1. Please fill in all the required fields in Options Dialog correctly. Otherwise, this extension is useless.2. Currently, this extension only support the absolute link of images on the webpage (e.g. [img src="http://www.spbe_example.com/example.jpg"]). All the images with relative links (e.g. [img src="../../example.jpg"])will not display properly. This will be fixed in the next version. Thanks for using this extension.
