Classic Compact

A very compact version of Firefox's default theme, which minimizes vertical space consumed by menu, tool, tab, find and status bars as much as possible without hurting overall appearance.

Supported Firefox versions: Firefox 2.0 - 3.0a1 ALL

Notes / Comments: To use small icons, right mouse click on menu bar and select "customize" or go to "View" --> "Toolbars" --> "Customize" then check the "use small icons" option. The space used by the address and tab bars can be further optimized by adjusting the "about:config" settings below (type about:config in the address bar). Some tweaks may need to be added to about:config (use the data type in parenthesis). Tab Optimizations:browser.tabs.tabClipWidth (integer)Increase this number to allow tabs to be wider when only a few are shown.browser.tabs.tabMinWidth (integer)Decrease this number to allow more tabs to be shown before they begin to scroll. I set it to 50.browser.tabs.closeButtons (integer)0 displays close button on active tab only.1 displays close button on all tabs (default).2 hides close button entirely.3 displays close button at end of tab bar where it used to be.Search Box Optimizations:browser.search.searchbox.width (integer)Use this setting to adjust the width of the search box. I have it set to 260.browser.search.openintab (boolean)Set to "true" to get searches in search box to open to searches in new tab.URL Box Optimizations:browser.urlbar.hideGoButton (Boolean)Set this to "true" to hide the URL "go" button.FEEDBACK TO COMMENTS@DavidN - Tiny Menus extension: I do not use this extension, but I'd recommend trying to uninstall Tiny Menus and see if it resolves your issues.@Jon_T - status bar space: The excess vertical space in the bookmark, find and status bar around icons was removed in v2.0.2, which was uploaded on Nov 8, 2006.@Pablo - I don't use Thunderbird for email (I use Pegasus Mail) so it doesn't make sense for me to create a Thunderbird version of this theme as I wouldn't be able to test it appropriately.
